The Tompkins County Food Policy Council is one way for the community to take some control over the food system. Where can we grow food? Where is emergency food available? What types of animals can we keep in our backyard? How easy is it to apply for and/or use the SNAP program (food stamps) where you live? Get involved to whatever level works for you as a Friend of your local food policy council, to make the policy about the food system responsive to the neighborhoods!
